Welcome Sunday – September 17, 2023
Houghs Neck Congregational Church
310 Manet Ave.
We hope you had a great summer in spite of the crazy weather patterns. We want to welcome you back or welcome you anew on September 17. Please bring the family on September 17 at 10:00 for our worship service led by our new pastor, Rev. Kathleen O’Keefe Reed. This will be a great opportunity to meet Rev. Reed. She joined us in July and we are so happy to welcome her to our church family.
Rev. Reed received a Bachelor’s degree in communication from Boston University and a Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. She served as Pastor at several churches, most recently at the University Lutheran Church in Cambridge. She also served in the wider church as Assistant to the Bishop of the New England Synod (similar to our Conference in the UCC). Rev. Reed is a life-long learner participating in sessions in recent years on topics such as stabilizing and sustaining community, anti-racism, and loss.
We are already experiencing her breadth of knowledge and experience and ability to find solutions. Rev. Reed has the skill to look at situations from a different angle and challenge our perceptions. She is a descriptive storyteller making her weekly sermons interesting and thought provoking (but not too long). Come see for yourself.
Following the service, about 11:00, we will have a barbecue on the side lawn (inside the hall in case of rain). Join us for burgers, hot dogs, side dishes and ice cream. Play some corn hole or other games, chat with Pastor Kathleen and catch up with others.
Of course you are welcome every Sunday at 10:00. While we don’t have a barbecue every week, we do have coffee and sweets following each service and time to socialize. We look forward to seeing you.
