Interfaith Social Service (ISS) interfaithsocialservices.org/
Founded in 1947, the ISS is dedicated to improving life for South Shore families and individuals in need. This agency is near and dear to our hearts. We contribute to many of their projects:
- During the winter months, warm mittens, hats and scarves are collected for those less fortunate in the area ISS services.
- On Sundays, non-perishable food items are collected for the ISS Pantry.
- In December, we take part in the Adopt a Family project providing wrapped gifts for several families in need at Christmas time.
- During the Easter season, the Church partners with ISS for their Bunny Basket project by providing gifts for children.
- Members of the congregation put on their walking shoes, solicit donors and walk to support the South Shore Walk/Run held each April.
Bake Sale at the Chowdafest
At the Annual Community Council's Chowdafest, members of the church’s mission committee sponsor a bake sale. The proceeds from the sale benefit an organization which supports children in some way. Past recipients of the bake sale monies have included the No Kid Hungry, Quincy Community Action Programs and Interfaith Social Services. For the past few years, the money has been donated to the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Program which is part of the Quincy Public Schools. This program helps support the children in our schools who are homeless by providing athletic and field trip fees, school supplies, and even basic personal items such as clothing, soap and shampoo and much more.
