When our forefathers and mothers settled and formed a church in Houghs Neck 129 years ago, they did so to provide a Christian community that would affirm who they were, their histories, their families and their deep faith in a loving God and their unity in the spirit. Greetings delightful community of Houghs Neck!
The summertime always seems to stir up for me nostalgic feelings as I remember sipping iced tea on hot August afternoons, building sandcastles on the beach and watching the tide wash them away and playing cards in my grandparents detached screened sunroom (they called the “summerhouse”) while fireflies dotted the warm night sky. Happy memories of carefree times when life seemed uncomplicated, pleasant… secure. I’m sure many of you reading this can relate to childhood memories like mine and you also realize that just like the beautiful, warm summer days, eventually they come to an end.As an adult there is not time for lounging around drinking iced tea and building sandcastles, life demands us to be busy, productive and stressed. read more... |
