Community

Being part of a church family means being part of the community around us.

Houghs Neck Congregational Church has been part of the Houghs Neck community for generations. Throughout the year, we host and participate in events that bring neighbors together and welcome people through our doors.

Whether sharing a meal, enjoying a community tradition, or simply spending time together, we are grateful for the many opportunities to celebrate the community we call home.

In the Community

Houghs Neck Congregational Church is proud to be part of the Houghs Neck community — a special seaside neighborhood of multi-generational families, longtime residents, and newer neighbors.

Throughout the year, we host and participate in events that bring people together, strengthen our community, and welcome everyone through our doors.

Chili Cook-Off

Usually held during the last week of January, our Chili Cook-Off brings together individuals and local restaurants competing for the title of Best Chili in Quincy!

Come taste, vote, and enjoy an evening of good food, fun, and fellowship.

Lobster & Fish Dinner

Our Lobster & Fish Dinner is another favorite HNCC tradition, bringing friends, neighbors, and our church family together for a delicious meal and an evening of fellowship.

Guests can choose lobster or haddock, served with a baked potato, corn on the cob, homemade bread, dessert, and a beverage.

Everyone is welcome! Watch our Upcoming Events for information about our next dinner.

Church Fair

Our annual Church Fair has something for everyone!

Browse Gift Baskets, Pet Items, Crafts, Christmas items, homemade pickles and jams, baked goods, bling, and treasures from our Resale Shop.

Try your luck at the Take-a-Chance table and Raffles, too!

Join us Friday evening for dinner and Saturday for breakfast and/or lunch.

Admission is free, and everyone is welcome!

Annual Tree Lighting

The Houghs Neck Community Council hosts its Annual Christmas Tree Lighting (yes, they’re lobster traps with a crab on top) on the first Sunday of December at 5:00 p.m.

After Santa arrives and the tree is lit, everyone is invited to join us at the church for refreshments and fellowship.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Our church family participates in a nationwide ministry creating prayer shawls for people experiencing physical, emotional, or spiritual challenges.

Each shawl is made with prayer and given as a tangible reminder that someone cares.

Interested in helping make prayer shawls, or know someone who would find comfort in receiving one? Please use the Contact Us button below.

Organizations

Our church is a place where people come together — not only for worship, but also for fellowship, friendship, and community activities.

HNCC is home to church organizations and community groups that bring people of all ages together throughout the year.

Seaside Social Club

The Seaside Social Club welcomes all women in the community to join us for friendship, interesting programs, and fun!

Merriam-Webster defines a socialite as someone who is fond of social activities and entertainment. Well, that certainly sounds like us!

Along with enjoying each other’s company, the club supports local organizations, including Interfaith Social Services, DOVE, the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Program, and HNCC.

Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month, September through December and March through June, unless otherwise noted.

Business Meeting: 6:30 p.m.
Program: 7:00 p.m.
Annual Dues: $20

Come join us — new members are always welcome!

Scouting America

HNCC is pleased to have sponsored Pack 6 and Troop 6 for more than 75 years.
