Worship is at the heart of our life together at Houghs Neck Congregational Church. Through prayer, music, scripture, and fellowship, we celebrate the Good News of God’s love for all in Jesus Christ.
We hope you leave worship feeling refreshed, encouraged, and strengthened for the week ahead.
Following worship, everyone is invited to stay for refreshments and fellowship.
From Our Pulpit
Whether you missed a Sunday service or would like to revisit a message, we invite you to watch our most recent sermon, “The Parable of the Wedding Table,” and enjoy other recent messages from our worship services.
Our Music Ministry
Music is an important part of our worship, bringing our church family together through song and praise.
Special Services
Throughout the year, we gather for special services that celebrate and remember important moments in our Christian faith.
Ash Wednesday
We begin the season of Lent with a brief service of prayer and reflection.
Ashes are offered to those who wish to receive them as a reminder of our mortality, repentance, and need for God’s grace.
Palm Sunday
On Palm Sunday, we remember Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem and the beginning of Holy Week.
Palms are distributed during worship, continuing a tradition shared by Christians around the world.
Maundy Thursday
Maundy Thursday, also known as Holy Thursday, commemorates the Last Supper Jesus shared with his disciples before his crucifixion.
We begin with a simple meal of soup and bread, followed by Holy Communion.
Our service also includes Tenebrae, as candles are gradually extinguished while we hear the story of the events leading to Jesus’ crucifixion.
We leave the church in silence, reflecting on the solemnity of the evening.
Good Friday
We join with other area churches in observing Good Friday. Our pastor participates in community services held throughout the city. Details and locations are announced each year.
Easter Sunday
Easter morning begins with breakfast in the Rev. M. Alicia Corea Fellowship Hall downstairs in the church.
At 10:00 a.m., we gather for a joyful worship service celebrating new life and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Christmas Eve
Join us on Christmas Eve at 5:00 p.m. for our traditional candlelight service.
Hear the Gospel message, enjoy beautiful music, and reflect on the miracle of Christ’s birth.
Our service concludes with “Silent Night” and the lighting of candles as we honor Jesus as the Light of the World.
Joy to the World! The Lord has come!
Prayer Requests
Prayer is an important part of our life together as a church family.
Whether you are going through a difficult time, celebrating a joy, or simply seeking God’s guidance and care, we welcome your prayer request.
Please click the Prayer Request button below to share your request. Prayer requests may be added to our church prayer list so that members of our church family can hold you or your loved one in prayer.
If you would prefer your request to remain confidential and not be included on the prayer list, simply let us know on the form.
Whatever is on your heart, we are here to pray with you.
Be anxious for nothing, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
